about theartist

For over 15 years, artist and designer Jill Folino has been displaying her creative talents in the New York metro area.

Jill studied fine art at the prestigious Cooper Union School of Art where she was one of only 60 applicants accepted into their freshman class on a full 4 year scholarship. She quickly realized the truth in the philosophy of her idol, Andy Warhol, that “art=money=art”, and transferred to larger university to study business. There she majored in gallery and museum management, and received a Bachelors of Science in Art Business.

After college, she built strong creative versatility installing art exhibits and gallery shows at a center for contemporary art, and later designing and constructing exhibits for a children’s museum.

Without question, her specialty is children’s rooms. “I have so much fun doing them, and kids are the easiest clients to please. They’re always thrilled with the finished product”. From simple designs inspired by colors and fabrics in bedding to their favorite animated characters, to full surround murals, Jill can create a theme room that will delight a child of any age.

Over the years, she has become adept at faux finishing. Whether its traditional glazing, venetian plaster or the newer finishes like shimmer stone or suede, she helps her clients select the finish that best suits their home and lifestyle. She also offers a variety of faux metal and antiquing techniques that can be applied to moldings & furniture.

In recent years, Jill has added interior design to her resume when she purchased a tiny studio apartment in New York’s trendy West Village and made the decision to gut and renovate it herself. At it’s market debut in early 2005, it made the front page of The New York Times real estate section as that weeks’ feature property in New York City.

Jill’s work is not limited to two dimensional design. For over a decade, she has been designing and fabricating custom props for television, retail display and special events. She has even played the role of party planner and teamed up with floral designers to create beautiful environments for bridal showers & weddings.

Whatever you can imagine for your home, business or event, Jill Folino can creatively meet the challenge to transform and compliment any interior space.
